Salute,

I am new to the forum >.<
I am 16 and I love burlesque and I think it is one of the sexiest things a woman can do. And as an aspiring actor and I thought why not make ends meat as we all must do with part time burlesque and if acting falls through go straight to burlesque. I am planning to move to London in the next three years I was wondering is 18 old enough to be a burlesque dance? Or should I wait maybe till I am 20 or 21? Because personally I if I do I don't want to have a little lolita act because at 18 I am still quiet young.

P.s Sorry for the spelling mistakes :S

i think you should be very careful and think carefully before putting yourself in any situation which involves a young girl taking her clothes off in the presence of people she wouldnt know.

do your research, work out which venues reputable and which are just some sleaze in a back end pub where you could easily get grabbed by some old git and no-one's going to stand up for you.

if you don't have the strength or the balls to physically push someone off you and kick them in the nuts, then take chaperones with you.

and yes im speaking as someone thats been through it, so do be careful.

even proper 'cabaret' venues sometimes wont back up a fight if their security are pussies or there just is no security.

be careful. and if you're not sure, get a bigger chaperone!

go to lots of nights and get a taste of the scene.

good luck!!

Thanks for the advice I never really thought about having someone watch over me.
Luckily my friend and I are trying to do a double act so I should have someone with me.

two young girls does not equal safe im afraid.

as i said be really careful.

and if you're not sure, bring a guy you trust. preferably a big one!

usually they dont mind, and they double up as helpers to carry things!

in return you get them in free/pay their way, get them some drinks to say thanks.

it really is worth it.
