I doubled up some craft felt that I stretched over a bowl - still waiting to buy some decent hat blocks! x _________________ When I'm good, I'm very very good. But when I'm bad, I'm better.

If not you can look at some online shops...Milliners Warehouse has been mentioned before but look also at McCulloch and Wallis and Baxter, Hart and Abraham who i recommend- i get all my bits for my millinery course from them and they are the cheapest around!

Great idea for using a bowl. I must have a dig around in my cupboard to see what would make a fab hat!
I would love some hat blocks, but they are so expensive.
Thanks for the names for the shops - I need somewhere to get some good felt from as I want to have a go at making a wire framed hat. I have a good few places I use for feathers and accessories, mainly Parkin Fabrics, Rui Tong Trading and Milliner Warehouse (although I find this expensive and only go there when I desperatley need to as it is in Victoria, 20 mins away from me).
I think McCulloch and Wallis have a shop off Oxofrd Street so I may pop in after work one day. Have a look around and get all inspired!

McCulloch & Walllis are expensive too-more than Milliners Warehouse!
Baxter, Hart etc are the cheapest and i get my felt from them. They are really helpful too. You can`t order online but they do have a website and if you ring up they will send you price list and colour samples etc.
nighty night better go to bed!

lol will do, don't worry.
It's the next step for me, actually making a base. I am quite excited and a little nervous, but I have recently won some vintage millinery books off eBay which I am going to follow the instructions in!
I cheat a little on my mini hats as I get the bases in, but they are great value and I couldn't make them any cheaper or better. _________________ "A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort" |
