i dye my hair black every month or so but it fades and is in quite bad condition, it also stays very straight which o hate...! i've been eyeing up black henna as it has no chemicals, and from what friends tell me, makes hair thicker and easier to curl, which is a huge bonus for my flat hair! does anyone have any advice or tips before i take the plunge?!

You could maybe try speaking to the ladies in Lush. They have loads of different henna dyes and seem to always know their stuff when it comes to the products they sell.

Don't put it on a night before you go out as it has a yukkie smell and takes a few washes to get out. I put red on mine once went out to a hot club and had to go home cos of the smell lol

im using Herbatint red right now and its made my hair glossy and soft.

I was thinking about starting to use henna, but I have heard that it can react badly on hair that has already been chemically dyed. Is this true, does anyone know?

I know that if you use Henna on bleached hair, it will go green... had a narrow escape myself many years ago. Embarassed

Henna is a bi**h to get out in the end!! it will liturally stain your hair,I would try Naturtint,i use it and it makes my hair lovely and really dyes the hair but ,could easily be lifted if needed professionally xoxo

I use the red henna from lush, it's a bit yukky and if you have hair past shoulder length you need more than one of the blocks it comes in, and it bloody kills your arms grating it up!

But yes, I didn't get the colour I thought I would but my hair was in GORGEOUS condition and it had a nice tint to it.

If you're going to use henna then I'd have a long hard thing about it because unless you let your natural hair colour grow out most other hair dyes won't take over it because it coats the hair, where chemical hairdyes work by penetrating it.

I did a bit of research and a lot of googling and review reading before I decided to use it, I'd recommend that anyone else do the same =)

I've used the black henna from lush and it was a royal pain to apply and then get out, as it dried it fell off in places (the mud) and stained the floor even though i picked it up as soon as it fell.

I wrapped clingfilm round my head to stop it going everywhere, I looked silly but it worked!
