Ruby's soooo right... no creams can rid you of the dreaded orange peel thighs.. it's a con. Regular massage, loads of water, brushing and a good diet are the only way to go. I have it and it got worse when I was sitting on my butt all day doing an office job a few years ago... I used to get up, jiggle around the room massaging my legs to help circulation. God only knows what anyone would have thought if they'd seen that.

I'm not so fussed about cellulite (hey if I can't see it, why should I care what's behind me ), but I have developed quite dark stretch-marks recently, which I am very distressed about as much as I try not to care.
It's making me a bit paranoid/shy about my performances actually and I know that is not something that the audience will particularly care about, but it's always in the back of my mind - does anyone have any good lotions/potions/ideas to make them less noticeable? (I'm guessing I can't get rid of them totally now I'm landed with the blighters ) _________________ So good they banned her... |

Cherry, getting stretch marks out into the sun seems to make them fade a little, eventually they'll go silvery instead of dark but no i dont think you can get rid of them, lots of moisturing cant hurt! I cant imagine they're that noticable from the audience though, remember everyones looking at your sexy dancing, not your stretch marks

self bronzer?
i use a glittery lotion for shows, they come in silver or gold so it looks bronze.
if the lighting is good they'll never see your cellulite!
if the lighting is harsh and bright ill put some flesh coloured tights on. tee hee

Lush Cosmetics - Buffy The Backside Slayer Body Butter!
It's amazing. It's like a block of scrub that you rub on your thighs and ass cheeks and shower off. Works for me, I use it around twice a week. You can find it here: http://www.lush.co.uk/shop/index....p;cPath=28_32&products_id=227 |
I love that scrub! i use it on my 'special' days when i feel like looking like aphrodite. sadly i'm not getting to the age of cellulite but if it helps my mother (who is an incredibly tiny woman and has the same body size as I did when I was 14) has cellulite.
And anti-cellulite cream is a load of rubbish! |

I'm covered in cellulite and stretch marks...one of the results of going from eating disorder to student diet in the space of two years.
I used to be worried about it but last December I got to see a top dancer perform. She looks flawless and is incredibly toned BUT has patches of cellulite! She is human after all and makes me feel a lot better about myself. _________________ The Burlesque Busy-Body |

I shall be going bare legged for the first time this weekend in a routine and i know I shall be flashing my celly all over the joint, sod it, my outfit is so sparkly they (hopefully) wont notice! That is the trick I feel!
Diva: Ive seen your outfit for your woman act, I doubt anyone will be looking at your thighs honey! and good for you too.
We all have it but we notice it on ourselves more than others do remember that. Im actually thinking of going with bella's idea and adding diamonds on my dimples! EMBRACE! _________________ www.leedsburlesque.co.uk |

| I was always really self conscious about my thighs. I'm usually skinny and struggling to gain weight but I seem prone to cellulite regardless (people always say "oh, you can't possibly have cellulite, you're so thin" yeah, right). I use the buffy body butter as previously suggested (massages and moisturises, smells great and doesn't cost the earth) but recently I tried flesh coloured fishnet tights (£1.50 for 2 pairs from Primark, bargain). I used them for my stage debut, they really reduced the appearance of the cellulite, gave me a ton more confidence, and cause they don't show up too much you can wear stockings over them. Hurrah! |

Check out Wikipedia's cellulite entry:
Some predisposing facts:
| Quote: | [edit] Diet
Diet has been shown to affect the development and amount of cellulite. Excessive amounts of fat, carbohydrates, salt, alcohol or too little fiber can all contribute to an increased cellulite.
[edit] Lifestyle
Smoking, lack of exercise, tight clothes, high heeled shoes, and sitting or standing in a single position of long periods have all been correlated with an increase in cellulite. A high stress lifestyle will cause an increase in the catecholamine hormones.
|
Maybe it's the dancing, or the gym sessions or maybe it's the pilates, or just the daily walks, but the dreaded orange peel skin has never surfaced on me. I do find it irritatingly unjust that men rarely, suffer, (is that the right word?) from cellulite.
Ladies, increase your daily fruit consumption and make sure you drink lots of water. And do take the advice of the Health Department and walk about more.
And, this is fun, a good antidote is lots and lots of energetic sex. Yay! |

I heard that you can be genetically predisposed towards it. Joy.
My diet probably doesn't help much cause I eat what I please, but I'd rather just cover it up than restrict my diet. Life's too short to not eat chocolate and wear heels. Hehe. I tell you, nude fishnets are the answer. |

I was told that rubbing coffee into your thighs helped, apparently Catherine Zeta Jones does it.
Just thought I might add this in.
