today i realised that i have grown into my mother! argh!

i knew i was turning into my mum, but for chris to mention it today has got me all worried!

and hes worried about being his dad, altho too late for that methinks!

i like his dad tho.

so is it best to meet the parents early on in the relationship to determine if we can live with that person?

as chris says, when he looks at me standing with my mum and gran its like looking at 3 stages of me.

cheers chris. lol

oh god is there any way we can change things?

in my case, its more of a lacking the 'think before you speak' gene

xxx

It has to be genetic, too. Not to put a downer on this thread, but you have to understand this part to understand the next part. My parents split when I was 4. My dad visited on the weekends til I was 14 and then he moved out of town for a really great job. I've seen him about 10 times since I was 14.

Anyway... my point is that I haven't really seen a LOT of him in my life. Despite that, I act almost exactly like him in a lot of ways. He's a bit refined and stuffy, but when it comes to our voices, the way we talk sternly to people, our grasp of the English language and talent for wordplay, and a love of entertaining people, we're exactly alike. Sometimes I'll say something and I'll mutter to myself "Shut up, Mike!" haha. I don't call my dad Mike but I do call my dad half Mike.

I was raised by my mom and I act a lot like her at times, too. I definitely got the smart ass part of her personality. You put these two parts of me together and you get me. Not everyone likes it. haha.

Okay that gives me mad, kind stubborn, forgetful, argumentative, good business head, loving and gentle form my mum.  Stubborn, argumentative, good business man, passionate, bad tempered and a total showman from my day.
Yip that sounds like me there are a few that I have not mentioned that I know I have inherited that are constant battle to hold back.

There are definitely some similarities between me and my mum (and me and my dad) but I figure this si bound to happen when you spend so much time around them, especially as you are developing your own personality.

My husband is like this. He hasn't seen much of his Dad; his Mum & Dad divorced when he was 2. His Dad has lived all over the country, more recently in Norfolk which was 4 hours away and then about 3 years ago he moved to Spain.

He & his Dad have the same dry sense of humour, they like to take the p1ss out of people. They both think they know everything.  Laughing

My Mum is great with money; she works with the accounts & wages of my Dad's business. I'm rubbish with money; got myself into a whole lot of debt by being stupid.  Rolling Eyes

My Dad is quite docile and doesn't get angry very easily. I have only really see him get angry once when we were young. My Mum was the disciplinarian who would do the smacking,  dish out the "pants down over the knees job"  Laughing  (never did us any harm I hasten to add).

I think I am more like my mum than my Dad. I have my Mum's temper. I have my Mum's intelligence as she was more academic, whereas my Dad and my brother are both good with their hands - they are both mechanics. My brother has taken bikes & engines apart and put them back together since he was about 6. I'm rubbish with things like that cos I'm really clumsy.

I think I developed a love for business from my dad and my love for all things beautiful from my mum and the love for food from them both.. Baby Bones I don't think you are going to run away from your mother's traits.
