What would you give up?Christmas dinner or christmas presents?
In a time of recession, I'd rather spend my money on a fantastic christmas dinner. My reason being is that presents may not be practical (think of those unwanted presents by distant relatives). Yet Christmas dinner doesn't feed you for just christmas day, it will go on for another few more days with all those leftovers. I.e. Christmas dinner is a week's worth of food in one big amazing and happy-thoughts-inducing festive activity. Plus it's technically cheaper to feed everyone with christmas dinner than buy everyone presents.

My Christmas dinner is usually pizza and beer eaten alone at home. And I'm not giving up my pizza or beer. Not without one hell of a fight. They'd write songs about it.

I'd give up the gifts without a doubt. I love spending the day with good wine, good food and good friends. As much as I appriciate the lovely things people spend the time and effort buying and putting together for me, I much prefer spending time with them whilst woolfing down yummy cheese.

Same here. I'd rather have a lovely meal and good company.

my presents this year were all things I needed. My bf got me a second hand tv and a fridge (the one my landlord supplied froze everything no matter what temperature you set it too)
My mum got me a toaster a kettle and a toastie maker.
I must admit that this year I would rather have had these presents than dinner this year as I mostly had things I badly needed for my flat.
Now I can buy milk and cheese that doesnt freeze and can drink tea and eat toast
