What Katy Did

I went for the first time today.

Have to say I was a little disappointed. It was largely down to the sales assistant, who just wasn't as friendly or welcoming as I would expect from a niche shop such as this.

I asked her how I would know what size to wear, and she told me I would have to measure my waist. I had to ask for a measuring tape, and measure myself.

She was by no means rude, but in no way encouraged me to part with over 100 quid for a corset.

It was a shame really. We were the only ones in the shop, so it wasn't like she was busy.

You could feel the quality though! So weighty!

I've only ever ordered online, I live so far away.
I don't have any complaints from my experiences though, in fact quite the opposite.  Cool

This weekend I went to try on corsets at Nikita Sablier - a million times better. The ladies were lovely, they got me into two corsets I wanted to try on, no pressure.

If I were to buy one, I would go back there.

Thats not great , I would feel the same way because the advertisment gives the feeling that youll get great service too,and nothing beats a "have a nice day ya'll" smile!!
When it comes to corsets then  I think your better off spending that £100 on a www.desertorchidcorsets.co.uk or Nikita Sablier,i here that the overall experience is lovely, but generally shop bought corsets are a rubbish fit, and custom is the only way to really wear a corset,it will be built to look after your body in the correct fashion, Bethan from Desert Orchid couldnt be any nicer!!!!!

Service

I haven't responded to this as the only people that know the whole story are the customer and the assistant in the shop.

However, as this thread is gradually growing, I feel I do have to say something.

As soon as I read the thread we arranged a staff training day in the shop to ensure that all staff know exactly what is expected of them. The level of service the customer received was certainly unacceptable and needed to be addressed. Everyone found the session extremely useful and they're now going to have a monthly training and product info session to ensure they really know everything there is about our products.

I would like to point out that not all shop bought corsets are a 'rubbish fit' and I find this statement far more upsetting than a shop assistant having an 'off' day. At What Katie Did we design a variety of shapes to suit a variety of figures. Personally I have now spent 15 years in the corsetry business and will continually work on providing the best fit.

Whilst there are a lot of shops selling corsets I'd stick to one that specialises in corsets, and manufactures as that way they will know what style is most suitable for customers. If you don't want to return to What Katie Did then why not try Fairy Goth Mother who stock a variety of brands including Puimond and Miss Kate (and under private label, Desert Orchid), non of which can be classed as 'rubbish'.

Thanks for your post Katie, it's good to see that there are still people who value input and offer an 'old fashioned' take on customer services.

I do appreaciate when staff acknowledge me when when I walk into a shop.  I don't even mind the staff chatting between themselves whilst I am browsing, but what I do want is for them to be aware of me and notice when I am ready for their assistance.
And I have been known to walk out of a shop when sales staff have been too pushy or for that matter ignored me completely!

I have to say that I have only worn one of the WKD Pigalle corsets for an evening once, and it was fabulous and fitted like a dream.
I will get around to getting one one of these days!

Katie,

as the customer I'm really pleased to read your feedback.

Thanks
