The Tie Rail - For the well dressed man

It occured to me that it might be nice to have a little thread on gentlemens attire, both for men, and for those ladies who do acts dressed as men. The art of tying a tie for example is somewhat of a dying thing. So I thought i would get us started with a few guides on such things..

MIAH you are a genius!

What a fantastic idea, there are so many chaps out there whom I often hear bemoan how they cannot tie thier dickie.

Why I dont know what you mean!

An inch?! I don't think that would do the job!
Man In A Hat

Its so hard not to plundge into inuendo when so many opportunitys are pressenting themselves but i have always belived in restraint, and so will avoid comming in on this conversation and return to discusing - all be it with myself - the finer points of Mens tailoring.

The biggest problem i have with my jackets is i tend to over fill the pockets resulting in them ripping. I have two jackets which are currently rendered worthless through this, and so i have taken to using the "man bag" and not breaking the stich on new jackets, so as to discourage myself from putting things in the pockets at all.

That sounds lovely - I love shoes in boxes and tissue paper and little bags!

Just put all my shoes out in my bedroom instead of in the cupboard.... Very Happy

Even better is underwear in tissue and little boxes tied with satin ribbon ... <sigh>

Those instructions for bow ties are great MIAH, however I will refrain from passing them to Mr Boo as my ability to tie bow ties has long been considered one of the more mysterious of my skills and now forms part of our ritual for going out.

Would hate him to know how easy it is tee hee.

And nothing looks better in my oppinion than a man with a real bow tie undone and the top button of his evening shirt undone, a cigar and a brandy balloon within reach.

Ohhh I've come over all funny, reading that description Miss Boo! I would love to see Mr Minx in a bow tie... unfortunately, the smartest I see him is in his work suit which is not terribly exciting. Confused
Man In A Hat

smiles, this image of a man with a bow tie undone does seem to be increadbly popular, hower i suspect the psyche that needs to go with this vision of lovelyness is rather more Pierce Brosnan than father christmas and so its a look i have not as yet adopted myself!
