The Perfect MascaraDear Ladies,
I have an admission to make, I have still yet to find the perfect mascara to make long thick eyelashes that doesn't go lumpy or leave black marks below the eye by the end of a long night (ahem - this bit could be mown fault however ).
I would love to hear about everyones favourites.

I personally love pretty much any mascara by Bourjois, but my friend recently bought me L'Oreal - Volume Shocking, which is fantastic on.

The Best Mascara Ever! Now this happens to be a topic close to my heart! I actually have long thick lashes, and whilst people would think this is a blessing it does mean that with the wrong mascara i look like i have big black spiders crawling over my eyelids!! My definite favourite has to L'oreal Telescopic. The best things about it is when it dries, it leaves an almost plastic-y coating so none of that flaking or smearing!

Lacey - that sounds lovely!
I like No7 Lash Extensions from Boots. It makes my eyelashes look fantastic.

mascaraMy cheap supermarket fav that gives long, think fabulous lashes that last and last with no black smudges are the new mascaras with the vinyl or plastic wand applicators. You need a couple coats but the new applicators let you do that without clumping. I can sleep in these and not smudge! My fav is Max Factor's Waterproof Lash Perfection. Just replace and start over if they start to clump. Hope they work for you!

It's expensive but worth it: Lancome Hypnose.

Just for the record girls, the L'oreal mascara I recommended earlier in the thread isn't cry proof.

I know what you mean Kitty... I use L'Oreal Volume X4 and it's fab... but, even if I get a fit of the giggles and cry a bit, I get a drizzle down one side of my eye. Which is never particularly fetching - however you look at it!!!!

I found the best macara... Volume Glamour by Bourjous... it's incredible, it makes my eyelashes look thicker, longer, and suprisingly more curly... and it's under a tenner!! It's wonderful, definitely recommended...

I only picked it up because I loved the look of the mascara bottle, thankfully it was great!!
I had my eyelashes permed not too long back and other mascara's made them clump together afterwards, this one did me absolute WONDERS!!

I find Maybelline Define-a-lash works for me.
I got it a it was on offer in Superdrug - two for £10, but had also seen the adverts. It has a curved brush and a couple of nobbly things at the top of the tube so it pulls off any excess as it comes out of the tube!

I bought the Maybelline Define-a-lash when I decided my funds were too low for the Masterpiece Max (which was my usual choice) - but I have to say both worked equally well.

I had the Max Factor one previously - and although they are both good I prefere to use the Maybelline

Ruby may I suggest you a few of my favourites. I have been cursed with short straight eyelashes that even points downwards so heated eyelash curlers are compulsory.
But I've categorised the best mascaras in terms of budget!! (I got my thinking cap on at this moment)
Cheap - Rimmel Magnifeyes Mascara £4.99. It comes in waterproof as well. A decent mascara which does lengthen eyelashes and significantly defines them. But it does dry out fast so if you wear mascara on a daily basis, you find that you may need a new mascara after three weeks.
Decently priced - Maxfactor Masterpiece £6.99. I found that it had similiar effects to the Rimmel one and dries out pretty slowly. But lashes tend to clump a lot after the first coat of mascara.
Expensive - Estee Lauder Projectionist High Definition Mascara £17. I absolutely love this! Not only does it lengthen and thickens mascara. It also curls them slightly. It dries quickly and doesn't clump. It's not waterproof but is extremely resilient to coming off or running down your face. (I wore this mascara once when I got heartbroken; it stayed on for the entire waterfall) I have yet to buy this and I tend to get testers of it whenever I can. But if I am to spend a lot of money on mascara, this will be short-listed for my attention. Also for a small 3ml tester, it lasts a LONG time. Now ladies, to enjoy a decent freebie, go to an Estee Lauder counter to see if they have any!!
-Shiseido Mascara Base £11.95. This may be a mascara base which comes out as a semi-clear mascara. But I swear by this and it is what a crucifix is to a nun. For a base mascara it is a LOT of money but the joys of this product is that when you put it on, you can then put on any bad mascara and your lashes would still turn out stunning!! Currently I'm using this with a £3 mascara from Collection 2000 and my eyelashes look good. It doesn't clump, it dries really quickly once you have applied it, it thickens, lengthens your lashes and it lasts a long time.
So it is my number one mascara, even though it is a base but an architect will tell you that you can't build a good building without a good foundation. To save money on this lovely thing though is to buy it from the US or ask me when my mother is next going to Hong Kong and I'll ask her to buy it in bulk for approx £7 each.
Anyway my darlings that is my detailed list of my favourite mascaras. And be thankful it's not moisturisers because I will write a book.

Do not buy the new Maybeline mascara with the stupid anti-clump brush - they're lying!! It's thick and clumpy
As much as I dislike L'Oreal - I've got their Panoramic Curl Waterproof mascara and it's got me through a wedding and a funeral. It 's pretty good.

Anyone tried eyelash extensions? I keep hearing how great they are etc etc but think that they have not reached Exeter yet, so would probably have to go to London. Which then makes it one very expensive job!

I had eyelash extensions - apparently I have difficult eyelashes to do it with as they criss cross a lot - they all fell off within 2 days maybe check with the beautician before having it done as to how long they'd last on your lashes? I liked them for the brief time I had them though! Look pretty natural.
My best friend got me YSL Falsh Lash Effect mascara and it's amazing - even turns my stumpy little blighters into long, lusterous beauties! Can be a bit smudgy but if you put She Laq by Benefit on top it seals your mascara so it doesn't run - happy days!

Oooh thanks Ruby Rose, not sure exactly where but dialling code suggests Exmouth which is about 30 mins away and a darn sight closer than London. Not that I am averse to a trip to London, but always so much to do ...
Yes I am quite a fan of the YSL falsh eyelash thing too. It gets very gunky around the top though and seems to mess everything else up in my make up bag.

I had Lancome L'extreme for my wedding (waterproof version) and it was fab! I'm about to get the non waterproof one
I find Maybelline Lash Stylist pretty good for a cheap one.
Clinique High Impact (I think that's what its called) is good too

I'm looking for a good water-proof, wedding-proof mascara - would you say that's the best one? I use Maybelline for day-to-day (the extra black one) and have either Clinique or Bourjois for going out, but most other brands seem to irritate my eyes and I don't want to be crying and have bright red eyes in my photos! It does need to be really water-proof though - I'm pretty much guaranteed to be blubbing through out the day

Well it is very difficult to budge ... I took it on honeymoon and swam with it and I still had nice lashes (shame about the rest of the face )
Its lengthens without making them too thick or clumpy, and that's what I like
I used Clinique Take The Day Off remover and that got it off
I was actually surprised that I managed *not* to cry on my wedding day! I nearly did when I walked down the aisle and people were telling me i was gorgeous, and at the end when my mum told me how proud she was - but I scarpered quickly!

Haha, I'm imagining a quick exit, with the rest of the guests wondering why you are fleeing you own wedding
I just know I'm going to cry - it'll be very emotional so I'm going in prepared, like it's some kind of military op...Being able to swim in it is a very good thing, that's my best reccomendation so far, cheers me dear

I went to my local college for eyelash extensions, they weren't the individual eyelash sort, more like the ones you can get from boots, and they did fall off within a couple of days but for a couple of quid you can't really complain!

I personally love Voluminuos carbon black by L'Oreal (and let's face it, we are soooooo worth it!)
Can imagine it wouldn't really work too well on fair lashes though x
