Slightly intimate feminine question

That's got you all intrigued hasn't it? lol

This is something I've been wondering for a while, but never known who or where to ask it.

If there are any men on here, please avert your eyes Wink

I want to get waxed "down there", ideally all hair gone, the thing that I'm unsure of, is I have two piercings down there, would I need to take them out? Would they be in the way? Because I can take one out quite happily, the other I've not removed since it was done, and am quite nervous about it.

It's probably a really silly question, but there we go.. I'll go hide my embarrassment elsewhere now Embarassed
Minnie the Minxtress

Don't be embarrassed Kitty. I must say though, as soon as I read your posting, my mind envisaged how the therapist would manage that and it made my eyes water a bit.

You are brave. I have no clue how they'd do that... apart from you putting some gauze or something over the area where your piercings are dangling or sitting, if you know what I mean!
Ruby Rose

Ok, Professional head on.

For a Hollywood wax (all hair removed) it will depend on where the piercings are. If they are through the Labia Majora then they will have to be removed, if they are through the Labia Minor then they can remain in situ. As for clitoral piercings if you have a VCH (vertical clitoral hood) piercing you may need to remove that, triangle and horizontal CH could most probably stay in situ.

Hope this answers your questions.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I should probably try taking the piercing out at some point, but it's a slightly awkward one :s

What an utterly fantastic thread - I love how open and factual everyone is on here Very Happy . I have often thought of having this done in a salon (the waxing, just not brave enough for the piercing I'm afraid Wink ), as an alternative to razor-ing, but to be honest (and given my previously mentioned fear of salons) I'm a little shy about asking for it Embarassed - does anyone know just how common this is in salons, would it be something that they would be used to being asked for, or is it something that only certains places cater for?
Lacey La Belle

well if you go to a beauty salon rather than a hair dresser, it would be very common I expect! Well a girl has to go somewhere!
Ruby Rose

I have found that women are terribly shy about asking for this. However, now all my friends are clients and all my clients are friends I have developed a good relationship of trust so they feel safe enough to ask for it.

My personal opinion is that you need to know your beauty therapist, it is a difficult thing to have done with a stranger. However, if you are comfortable with a stranger doing it, most salons offer it now, just make sure you check that your therapist is fully insured and trained, and has experience of doing it. Any well trained professional will not be insulted by you asking for their credentials.

my best mate is a bloke, and believe it of not we have discussed this matter!! along with makeup shoes etc!! (no, he isnt Gay!! Razz )

He says use immac but get your fella to do it for you because you cant see what you are doing down there (unless you are a contorsionist.?) and even if you use a mirror you will still struggle with it.!!
Start by taking the hair down using a set of electric hair clippers with a number ONE blade on - for gods sake dont let him do it without a blade or you will be sore afterwards. Then, lay back and set him to work with a tube of immac. Tell him to stay away from the obvious sensative areas and stick purely to where the hair growth is. Leave on for 7 minutes then remove with the little tool immac do which looks like a disposable razor but has rubber strips rather than blades. This part is quite important to getting all the hair off as it painlessly pulls out the stubble and leaves you perfectly smooth. If you just wash the immac off it will leave some stubble. When he has done use johnsons baby powder not moisturiser. The result when done right is as good as waxing without the pain.without removing your piercings !!
And maybe some added pleasure!! Razz
Ruby Rose

Sorry to sound like the profit of doom.

I would strongly recommend removing your piercings prior to using any chemical topical application. Chemicals and metal react and this is not the kind of area where one would relish such a thing.

The down side with depilatory creams is that they only remove the hair by dissolving it to just below the skin and therefore regrowth is quite rapid, and for the dark haired girls amongst this just won't do. As you would have to do it so often that you can end up quite sore.

I'll get my coat............

I am with Ruby. I am quit lazy and not having a beauty opposite my house I have not a regular wax 'down there' since moving up here. I have thus taken to shaving (are we seriously having this conversation?!) and it does indeed irritate the skin and grow back far too quickly. You then have to do it frequently, irritating the skin further! Ouch! Lucky I am single isn't it!! haha!! Laughing
Bella Claire

im with you!! Confused
Minnie the Minxtress

Ohh I have to shave (yes.. we really ARE having this conversation) because I am plagued with ingrowing hairs. I have considered using creams as another option.. but otherwise, it's the razor - which is no good, due to itching, sometimes a razor rash and the inevitable 5'o clock shadow mwah ha ha haaaaaaaaaaa Embarassed
smashingsadie

The salon I used to go to regularly closed and my skin doesn't agree with darned razors. There is nickel in them that I'm very sensitive to!

I usully epilate my legs, but had them waxed a few times. I didn't think the lady did a great job though. There was a couple of patches left that i epilated myself, and there was a lot of stubbly bits. Not impressed! I think its where the hairs broke before being pulled out. Was that a bad wax, or just a typical wax?

In any case, next time I'm in London I may have to pay you a visit Miss Ruby!

You would all be most welcome ladies.

I've been shaving too, but it's a nuisance, and seeing as I'm single I really couldn't be bothered with it.

Hmm, guess I wanted to change the piercing at some point anyway.. Now to pluck up the courage to get waxed.

(Yes, I know, having someone stick bits of metal through me doesn't scare me, asking for a wax does.. I don't understand either Embarassed )

Now this is weird....we had this discussion a few days ago on the Huorglass forum! I have been waxed 'down there' but foolishly tried to do it at home. My boyfriend had to sit on my and help because I was being a wimp. We got one strip done, I bled and he got punched. I couldnt stop crying I was in so much pain. NEVER do it yourself ladies!
Ruby Rose

Another tip;

Don't use strip wax for a Brazilian or Hollywood. Use hot wax, the type you heat in a pot and apply with a spatula.

Strip wax also adheres to the skin so for those extra intimate areas it will hurt alot more.

Firstly and very importantly, DO NOT USE TALCUM POWDER down 'there'. I'm not sure if this is medical fact but I heard it from my mum whos very sensible ansd not an alarmist that this can cause big problems in hoo ha land, (never let a man blow there either, I didn't hear that one from my mum tho...)
I shave, too wimpy to wax! I'm not single but have been lucky enough to marry the most perfect man in the world who loves me when I'm throwing up, on my period, hungover, no make-up and really shit skin sometimes too,but he still loves me, so I'm sure he can cope with a hairy fluff-fluff!!
Minnie the Minxtress

He sounds like a Star Ella... after all, what's a fluffy muff, between friends/partners! Laughing
Ruby Rose

Ella indeed has a point.

Traces of talcum powder have been found in ovarian tumours/cysts etc and daily application of powder to the groin are to be prohibited. However, a small amount of talcum is used in the process of waxing which is not enough to cause any undue concern.

Bwarrhhh!

I'm so jelous of dolls who shave...I'm a sensitive red head and break out horridly whenever I have tired to shave.

As for being scared of getting waxed, have no fear. I've never found waxing that painful and nothing beats a silky smoothe Brazilian. Though I do go about every 4-6 weeks to keep it that way!

Hello BTW....found this forum via MoB. Don't want to appear rude for not introducing myslef!

How fabulous is this site with all the girly stuff on it?!
Ruby Rose

I'm too scared for waxing, eyebrows are bad enough. I use cream and occasionally shave, when I shave I use hair conditioner rather than shaving gel, never get a rash .
DarklyDelicious Millicent

I agree about the shaving, I do it even though I am single cos i like it shaved but boy does it itch!!!!

I also go to the beauty parlour for waxing and i know it a bit sore after but it a lot nicer.

My daughter has hers done though not the full monty! She says it doesnt hurt her, she also has her legs, armpits and eyebrows done, is it no wonder I have to shave cant afford both of us to go!!!!

Did anyone see the guy on the TV the other night having what was quite grossly put as having his "bum, scrot and bag" done!! Now that looked awful for the lady doing it and by god that looked painful!
Its`a`rad`red`revoloution

It really doesnt hurt.
Well eyebrows and legs and bikini dont but my therapist is going to try hot wax un my underarms , because my hairs dont want to be normal hairs !
[[they want to be tiny little dragons and go in all diffrent directions]]
But yes it doesnt hurt !
Very Happy
EllaEmerald

Weirdly I think having 'little dragons' under your armpits sounds quite cute!!
