Short hairstyles

I had my hair cut into a short bob in the summer (I know my mistake, sorry) and I'm trying to grow it out but want to style it so it doesn't look too bad. the problem is - i have a LOT of thick layered hair. Is there any suggestions?? xx

Hi honey
mine is about shoulder length with lots of layers as i am growing it out to.  I just put mouse in it and wrap it in bendy curlers leave them for about three hours my hair is very straight and this gives me great curls that look great.  Maybe ask Ruby she is the expert in all this.
Good luck

I would recommend setting lotion if your hair is very thick, and then pinning it before drying to end up with some fabulous thirties waves! Thick hair always looks best wavy I think... Smile xx

lots of squeaking mice! ;p

yeah if growing out hair is annoying do it up, pin bits up and put on mini hats, very burlesque ;p

I tried out Diva's curling advice and i look like a china doll - so cute!! I am yet to experiment with finger waves so I'll let you all know how it goes. Thanks! xx Very Happy

I may have a go at this as well.  May seem like a silly question, but do you put in the bendy curlers when it is wet??

What I did last night was that i had my hair damp so i could let the mousse just glide into my hair easily before the rollers. Also I wore a hair net and left the rollers in overnight which really helped. (Plus the hair net did look pretty cool Smile)

I think it's time for another pyjama party, but one with setting lotion curlers and makeup, what say you all?

And a lovely warm welcome to Miss Orchid, thank you for finding us.

Would that be before or after the wine?  Shocked

With the trouble I have styling my hair - it would have to be BEFORE the wine - but afterwards it should be coupious amounts!

Okay, Im sure Katrina has stolen my identity. I have chin length hair, which was cut into a bob, which I am now growing out along with the fringe. I dont so much have think hair, but alot of it.

Any advice for 40's 50's style burlesque / pinup styles with our kind of hair?

Setting lotion help?

If I used a setting lotion to get my hair into some sort of curly 40's/50's style, how long does it take before it comes out? I'm assuming longer than hairspray?!
