Hello! I have very similar colouring to you and I use a Barry M lipliner, its kind of a cherry colour. Stay away from anything orange based, you need blue based things which mean they look a bit pinker. Fuscia pink also looks good, you could always mix it with red to get a better colour. Go into boots and let the counter staff loose on your lips!!

Showbiz!  I swear by it!  My colouring's similar to yours (dark hair, blue eyes, pale complexion) so it should be great for you.  It's in the Boots 17 collection and it's called Showbiz, and half the burly girls I know have used it at some point.  It's a blue toned red, bright but darker than pillar box red so it's flattering on paler girls.  It's a bit strong and might take some getting used to, but it's showstopping!

It's just a case of trial and error I'm afraid.  Although Rimmel are doing some rather nice reds which are cheap enough to experiment with.  You could always take a small pot into you local make-up suppliers and collect samples of different shades of reds, the assistants never mind as it will hopefully mean you will be buying something in the future.

I would suggest you try Mac, they're really helpful in store and their lipsticks are fab. I have found the perfect red (I'm dark hair and light complexion) and I'll never go back to any other lipsticks! xx

for a perfect 'beestung' look, i'd recommend MAC redwood, lightly applied with a brush, and possibly blended with vaseline. its quite dark, so you need to be delicate with it!

I got mine from MAC as well, tried a few on my hand and the lady picked one that was best for me. I use Lady Bug Smile

You sound like me!

My favourites are NYC lippy in Retro Red - thats my number one and its only about £3. Barry M in shade 121 is a great blue based red too - and they do a liner to match.

I use a No7 lip paint/gloss combo for a slightly subtler red (it seems more sheer) and my going-out-with-hubby-in-red-lippy is GOSH cosmetics paint/balm combo. That one is really nice because it doesn't dry my lips to a crisp like most of the paints (you know, the ones that stay on for 10 hours or what have you) and its a really good suits all red.

If you find me on MySpace/Facebook there are some pics up of me in those reds, or I can snap some on my day off for you Smile
