Previews of 'It Speaks! Tales of a Reluctant Showgirl'

Hello my lovelies, how have you been?

Just popping by to pimp my new show 'It Speaks! Tales of a Reluctant Showgirl' this week 9th and 10th July at The Courtyard, 40 Pitfield Street N1

Its Time Out's Critic's Choice this week (bless 'em) and you can find out more in my interview on page 66 or have a sneaky peek at http://squidgemag.com/2009/07/oph...erview-with-a-reluctant-showgirl/ for extensive media whore-dom Smile

Curtain up 8pm. £7 on the door (or if you join my facebook group and message me I'll let you in for a fiver)

Ophelia Bitz's first full solo show previews before heaving ho to the Edinburgh Fringe!

Come on down for an evening of tall tales, wild lies, songs (including some new originals), bile, vitriol and fruit-based foreplay tutorials.

“There's nothing quite like turning up at work to find a 35ft inflatable version of yourself, waving in the breeze, threatening to take out Sophie Ellis-Bextor...”

Dragged up by a gogo-dancing alcoholic and 'rescued' from a life of vice by Jehovah's Witnesses, Ophelia Bitz fought her stage-bound destiny as long as possible. But some things you just can't escape...A tale of false eyelashes, religion and the roar of the greasepaint, the smell of the crowd.

Clashing songs from Randy Newman, Kurt Weill, Flanders & Swann and Dolly Parton (plus several startling original numbers) with story-telling and libellous anecdotes, Ophelia Bitz's caustic, over-sexed and utterly silly comic style has won her praise and recognition on stages and soap-boxes all over the world.

“ We expect big things for Ophelia in 2009; don't miss her show”
"A star in the making"
Time Out

“ Dirty, witty, fabulous. Ophelia Bitz is f*cking hilarious” Martyn Jaques, Tigerlillies

“ A stunning zaftig cherub” The Independent

As its an ever-evolving piece feedback is welcome (preferably after rather than during the show) and if you are a skint performer taking your own show to the Fringe then ticket swapsies can be arranged.
