PiercingsI have three ear lobe piercings in each ear, my nose and my labret pierced. There must be loads of piercings between us on here!
I want to get some cartilage piercings done in my ear but they are damned expensive. £25 for ONE needle piercing! Anyone on here a piercer by chance?

Miss Kitty Lou
|
I have a few piercings (whispers - 12)
£25 sounds fairly normal, it's either that or get it done by gun at Claaire's (are they still doing that?) though it's not recommended :s
|
smashingsadie
|
I figured £25 was about normal, but it seems really extortionate seeing as I know how much needles are and its not £25 lol. I use titanium jewellery too, and both those things added together don't even make a fiver! Maybe I should become a piercer....

Definately do not get it done with a gun! (Although I got my nose pierced with a gun for £3 8 years ago and its fine!)
However it can go horribly wrong, especially with thick cartillidge.
|
Ruby Rose
|
The girls are most definately right. For anything other than earlobes you need to go to a professional. I am qualified to wield a piercing gun and would under no circumstance consider piercing anything other than ear lobes and anyone with such a qualification who would consider piercing anything else is not particularly ethical or professional, sorry rant over!
So that £25 will ensure that you get someone who knows excatly what they are doing with minimum risk of damage to you.

*sigh* Perhaps £25 isn't too much then. Just a lot for student types!!! My friend lives there and reckons she can discount me down to £15 by putting it on the system as family/practise lol.
I can probably get it even less if I buy the jewellery myself online. I would honestly love to train as a piercer but there is nowhere to train here.

I have several cartillidge piercings and would highly reccomend you have it done with a needle.
I have seen far too many people have them done with guns or at dodgy places...please, it's your health at the end of the day.
I go to cold steel in Camden Town and reccomend them for their professionalism and in depth working knowledge of piercing. They are the only APP approved piercers in London too!
Good luck, and I hope it all goes well.

Ohhhh Happiest of Days...
Today I went to a piercer in Croydon who stretched my navel piercing. I thought all was lost after having had my beloved navel jewellery in for 9 years then taking it out last year to have an operation, it seemed to close up immediately. I sobbed for days. But today, after finding a rather marvellous and careful piercer, I have my belly bar back in! I am soooo happy, I could can-can around the house!

I'm a little late joining in with this one but I've had my tongue done for about 6 years now. Have to say hubby loves it!! Tee hee!
|
Herr Geist
|
I had my tongue pierced for about a year and I took it out because I got annoyed with it. I don't know why I even did it to be honest. I only have my ears pierced now. One 10 gauge in each ear. Might stick one more in each ear. Not sure.
BTW... I've never felt the benefit of a girl having a tongue piercing. They insist it makes things better but I can barely tell the difference.
|
Innocent Twist
|
I guess I can only speak for hubby and me. Perhaps I should take it out and see if it makes a difference? Must try that later.
|

The girls also told me that it didn't matter whether I had mine in or not. That was a big deciding factor when I was contemplating getting rid of it.

Sadly hubby won't get his done. Probably a good job really. French kissing might become a dangerous practice!! By the way can you see mine?

A Christina?? Would that be the, erm, *ahem* 'intimate' one? Not if you paid me, I'm afraid, too much to lose if it goes wrong!
I've only got one piercing, in my belly button (well, and my ears, but people don't really count those, do they?). It's cute and looks nice, but I was told I'd get addicted and be back for more, but I haven't. I just can't think of anywhere else I'd want one!
|

I've never heard of people getting addicted to piercings. But I assume it happens judging by some of the people I've seen around here haha. I got addicted to tattoos but I cant afford the habit.

hm ive joined this late, but heres some info
you dont actually get your clit pierced, as far as i know!
its only the hood. which is a flap of skin, at the end of the day and doesnt hurt much nor bleeds or takes long to heal.
there you go, you can stop panicking now! ;p
|
Miss Kitty Lou
|
You *can* get your clit pierced, but it's not a common piercing there. The main one seems to be the hood piercing.
The Christina is basically a surface piercing through the pubic mound (info here - warning very very not suitable for work, has pictures.)
On the piercing note though, I've just discovered that my lip piercing hadn't entirely closed up, despite taking it out almost a year ago, and I've just managed to get jewellery through it again YAY!!

All I know is... if you try to get near my sensitive parts with a sharp piece of metal, I'm probably going to try to break your neck with my bare hands. haha. That's not even a "bad ass" statement. That's an involuntary reflex that most men would have when you try to take a stab at their junk.

Ive had lots of friends get piercings at this place called craft crazy its like an alternative shop thingy and basicly it was clean the area , and stick th needle through and half the people i went with screamed ..vari vari loudly.
Is that genrally how its done?
Or am i missing somthing..
|
Fleur du Mal
|
That'a basically it, yeah - clean the area, hold it in a clamp, stick a needle with a platic tubey thing on it through, pull out the needle so the tube stays in, replace the tube with the ring (or bar, but rings are better). When I had my belly button done the guy told me they didn't use the anaesthetic spray other places use because they're basically a placebo - it's a freezing spray but it only freezes the top layer of skin which doesn't stop the rest of it hurting!

I'm looking into microdermals too - been researching them and they look really pretty! I'm liking the jewel topped ones I've seen - I've even seen a blue opal type one which I drooled over. i just absolutely hate all these young rich kids who get whole sleeves done on their 18th birthday, with mummy and daddy's money.
and they all look the same!
argh its so infuriating.
i was the first person in my whole social group to have a tattoo; now kids younger than me are absolutely covered before they've even had time to develop a personality/individual tastes.
they'll be an entire generation who regret their massive tattoos.
serves them right.

I think about all the piercings I could get and I don't think I like any of them. I'm sure as f**k not getting my nipples done. The person who pierces those better be wearing a helmet if they want to come out alive.
Eyebrow? I've been told it would look good on me, but I think it's a bit strange looking on most guys.
Sceptum? I've been told that I have the perfect nose for this. What does that mean? haha. I'd consider it but I wouldn't wanna end up playing with it all the time.
Labret? Girl piercing. Sorry. That's how I feel.
And, as I said, if you get within 12 inches of my genitals with a sharp object, you're going to lose the use of your fingers.

I think I'm done with piercings but will definitely get more tattoos. The only piercings I have left are my ears (only one set) and navel. I had both nipples done, but gave up after 4 years as no matter what I did or what type of jewellery was in (as in ring or bar) they just never entirely healed.
I love tongue piercings, but I know so many people with a slight lisp because of theirs. I just couldn't risk that with singing.
My neice is 16 and has so far got ears, eyebrow, tongue and nipples done, as well as a 8 stud corset piercing up one side which she has just left two bars in now, and a tattoo (not impressed really with her convincing the tattooist she was 18, doesn't say much to me about the tattooist!). Rob has tattoos all over both arms and I have two on my back and both intend to get more, so we both like them. I just wish she'd waited to take more time over the design and get it done somewhere good. She is very good with art herself and is taking a bit of time designing her own so it will be something she likes, and she's joining the army later this year so she'll stand out from her friends anyway. But still!!

Hey BB
I was thinking about this, and I don't think it's neccessarily true (though, of course, this is just my opinion, but I would like to share my thoughts).
I know that a lot of chavvy girls have their tongue/labret/monroe/eyebrow/tragus pierced these days. But they certainly don't look 'alternative' (I don't really like using that word either, alternative to what? To me, my way of being and looking is normal to me...alternative to the convetional I guess?).
I believe that the way you dress/accesserise, the way you colour/style your hair, your make-up, the tattoo imagery you choose (how many chavs have custom work? Most chavvy ink tends to be flash from the people I see around my area, though I know there are exceptions), and your attitude and the way you carry yourself all set you apart from the 'average Joe/Joanna'.
I have also yet to see a sleeved up chavette too....I wonder what that would be like? A sleeve of tasmanian devils, tweetie pies, badly drawn roses, all set to a burberry background? Lol

I think I've had my belly button done since I started this thread forever ago....
I LOVE my tattoo. It's of an ascending birdy. I've wanted that for a very long time, as birds are very special to me. The tattoo reminds me of littlest birdy Indy - same kind of shape.
I have a few other tatts planned out, but haven't been able to afford them! Firstly, I want a tattoo of my favourite ever piece of classical music - Scheherezade by Rimsky-Korsakov. The violin has this lovely phrase all the way through, and I want that phrase accross my lower back.
Then I want the soundholes of my beautiful 205 year old violin tattooed on my back, either side of my spine, so that i look like a violin from behind. You might recall the famous picture which is where I got the idea.
Aside from that, I would like some more nautical themed tatts. a pair of stars on my hips appeals to me, but I'm scared of getting fat and ruining them lol.
