OMG How am I gonna get myself out of this one????I put some performance photos of myself on my facebook a few hours ago and marked them as private so only my friends can see. I have some uni friends on my facebook ( who do not know I do burlesque) and limmited their access so they cannot see my performance pics... or so i thought! I have just received this email from a girl at my uni who i thought I had given limited access to...obviously something has gone wrong somewhere! The email said:- Hey great pic's hun. looks like you had a blast, so much so you could'nt keep your clothes on!!!!!!!!!!! :0 xx
I am really shitting myself now (Please excuse the swearing!) as she aint really a good friend of mine and I can only imagine that this is going to spread like wildfire around my small minded college! I am also wondering who else has seen them that I didn't want to...it's my own stupid fault for thinking they were secure on there... In a blind pannic I sent her this reply: - Lol! That's what you think!  Look closer at the pics! I have a magic body stocking on! Lol! Then deleted her and all of my other non-burly friends! Not sure if this was the right move now... oh dear...
Help!
Please offer me some words of advice!

I think the only advice that can really be given at this point is to embrace it. You're a budding performer and soon enough everyone will know what you're up to anyway. You can't hide something like this. If you try to lead a double life, you'll end up stressed out and everyone will know anyway.
I understand why you'd want to keep it quiet but if you want to be a performer, this is inevitable. I think it's good that you're getting it out of the way this early in the game. Even if it wasn't on purpose.

Thanks Herrgeist, I am just annoyed at myself as this could have been avoided if I had thought about it and deleted these people first... I just feel a bit daft.
My college is in a very small village and everyone knows everyone so this is gonna be hot news! I just hope that I don't get in to trouble as I am training to be a teacher and maybe this could be a conflict of interests? Stupid thing is that I was a pole dancer for 4 years and managed to keep that quiet... I do burlesque for one month and look what happens! Lol!

I think I am just over reacting maybe! I guess that if I act like I am not bothered then this girl will hopefully not make anything out of it. If I act like I am bothered then it might give her reason to spread it... So I will just act really cool and hopefully it will all blow over... crosses fingers!
I am not ashamed of what I do at all, It has been my ambition to be a burlesque performer for years and I really enjoy it and am proud of what I do, I just realise that some people see burlesque only as "stripping" and can be quite narrow minded about it which makes me really sad. And out of all the people on my freinds list to see the photos by mistake, it had to be this girl! Lol! Maybe I could use this as an oppertunity to open her mind and broaden her horrizans?! We'll see! Lol!
Wonder if anyone else has had somethinglike this happen to them???

I know it probably won't help now - but I have two facebook pages.
It just means I can keep everything separate.
People can be a bit rubbish, but I'm sure she won't be as bothered as you think. She might even be a bit jealous

Calm down, deep breaths, whats the worst that could happen? Small minded people will always be small minded but thats their problem not yours. You haven't actually had anything negative yet so don't panic.
Take your own advice and breeze through it, you'll be fine, I'm betting they will all be intrigued. You can educate them!!

Awww thank you everyone! You've made me feel a lot better about this! I was just in panic mode last night!
I know this girl well enough to know that she will deffinately quiz me about it when I see her and possibley make some sly sideline comments (This girl is perminantly in sarcastic mode 24/7!) but I will just rise above it if she does...anyway... why she was looking at my facebook pictures at 12.30am on a monday night I do not know! LOL! Surely she should have better things to do?! Lol! I might have this as a reserve come back line! Or I could always offer to give her a signed copy?! Lol! Ok I am getting bitchy now! LoL!
Anyway... I am gonna put my energies into something possative... like making up a super-dooper new routine! Lol!

she does sound horrible and if she is like that with you she is probaly like that with everyone and they will not be interested in what she says. Your true friends will love you for what you do and the rest are not important. Keep performing and enjoying what you do, life is to short to be bothered with crap people.

I feel ok about it now...All my friends and people who I care about know exactly what I do and what burlesque is about. they are all really supportive ...so that's what matters.
I just don't like the thought that this girl might think she has "Gossip" about me to impress her friends with... her email almost had a "Gottcha!" feel about it! Lol! It'll probably be this week's hot topic but then hopefully it'll be something else next week! Lol!
And if she does pass the photos around college I will just hold my head up high and be proud of them! Lol!
There's only 4 weeks left of this semester then it's the Christmas holidays then I am straight in to an 8 week teaching placement and not back at uni til March! Lol!
I have tues and weds off uni so I am not in until Thursday so I'll let you all know what happens!

if she shows other people the pics I wouldnt worry as your gorgeous!you can just say "oh your lucky normally people have to buy tickets to see me preform" or something like that the thing with mean people like that is usually people don't pay much attention to them because they know they could be the victim of their gossip next week.Just hold your head up high and ignore her many people live their whole lives with regrets about not following their dreams and your following yours right now:)

I have a facebook for personal, which is where I keep in touch with all of my old school friends, uni friends, real life friends as I like to call them, and a myspace for my alter ego, which is where I do all my burly stuff. Myspace tends to be better for networking, I find, and it's where I get most of my gigs from! Keeping the two aspects of yourself separate is good to start off with; that way you can choose who you tell about what.

Just an update! I have not seen this girl... until today!
I went into the uni canteen this afternoon for lunch and there she was, sat at a table with a group of girls. She caught my eye and gave me the dirtiest look I have ever had thrown my way! Then she leant in and started whispering to her little buddies who then all turned round and looked my up and down (anyone would think we were 14! Lol!) Anyway, unaffected by their attempts to make me feel like poop, I just breezed past them, held my head up high, joined my friends, ate my broccoli soup and carried on with my day! Lol!

Hi, this is only my 2nd post on this board but I'm a teacher and I was wondering what you will do when you qualify?
I'm asking because it has recently been suggested to me that I could do some kind of modelling but I'm worried that if anything were uncovered by my students or colleagues that might jeopardise my career. I never thought of doing this before, but I have to admit I am drawn to the notion. I don't think I will though, have been in my career now for nearly 8 years so don't want to throw it away on a whim.

Bella, how did it go with that girl, have you had any backlash from your pictures getting out? Hope the placement is going well!
Am also training to be a teacher-I qualify in 6 months. (yey, almost made it!) Have loved burlesque longer than have wanted to teach, but have found that I love teaching also, am in that career for the long haul. Has been a bit of a tricky balance, running home from a parents evening to get dolled up for a night out, telling people the pole dancing classes I took at one point were ariel circus skills, I've also taken to telling people am going to caberet or circus nights rather than burlesque, seems to create less fuss. (tho sure some don't buy it and even circus raises eyebrows)
I don't perform (much too shy!) and don't get me boobs out for events so any pics that get out should just look like fancy dress. But still have that little worry in back of mind what would happen if students/boss/uni took found out and took issue.
But still, do love having a hobby that completely unconnected with kids and national curriculum targets! keeps me sane!

Like everyone else is probably suggesting - it's probably easier to keep burly pictures on myspace. I've had a similar problem with facebook before when my aunt has facebook too and it was too late when my bare naked ass was tagged on it. (my parents weren't happy when my aunt showed them)
Anyway you are a cool sassy lady with a hot body to boot so be proud of those pictures!!

Damn tagging!!! Thank kGod you can remove them! My MUM is on facebook as are all my sisters and a tonne of cousins! I try to keep myspace/facebook seperate but if needs be a second facebook account shouldn't cause too many problems!

Yeah I've noticed that you can start tagging on myspace now - but I have set up a separate myspace account for playing about with my posey pics...
I have some ex-students from the school I left last year on my other myspace so I wouldn't want them finding those kind of pics and passing them onto younger brothers or sisters. 
My facebook I keep for adult friends only, but I have ex-colleagues on there so again I don't want to put any photos that are too suggestive.
