Making a skirtI want to start teaching myself to use my sewing machine and thought a pencil skirt would be a simple thing to try first.
Does anyone know where I can find a good reasonably priced pattern online?

If you have a look in the catalogues in C&H's to pick out a pattern you like, then you can usually get them online if you google the reference - I've got a couple off eBay aswell x

they have some great patterns and they are copy-right free so you can alter them.

I finally bought myself a sewing machine on Saturday, for a very reasonable £60. Now I don't have to keep borrowing my mum's manual one.
I've spent the week annoying commuters by tacking together the pattern pieces on my train. The headrest on a train seat makes a very good pin cushion.

That Burdastyle website is great, i love this skirt:

and it's only $3 to download the PDF.
Another place to look is in your local library, they tend to have a lot of haberdashery books etc..
I'm off to get some more machine needles today, so far i've bent 3 sewing on sequins onto my corset, i keep losing my concentration and hitting them on the steel busk, whoops!

Cheers ladies, infortunately funds are limiting this month so I haven't progressed very far.
I have started with simple things like adding rhinestones and fringing onto outfits. I do have a skirt pattern now ehich my friend is going to make a skirt up for me and then talk me through how to do it. That way I can look at the pattern and the finished product to understand it.
I am sure it is a lot easier than I have built it up in my head best to just jump in feet first.
