Luscious LashesI noticed in a lot of the pictures from the Glasgow events that girls were wearing some rather oversized fake lashes. I assume you get them from some sort of stage supplies place, but does anyone have any recommendations? I would really like to create some 'baby doll' looking eyes...

Well,
There is a little place in Covent Garden called Charles Fox, who do a fantastic range of theatrical make up and supplies, you may want to give them a try.

I need help with false eyelashes, I just cannot seem to be able to apply them!

Excellent news, this is gong to be one of the topics taught in the Afternoon Beautea lectures. Bring along your eyelashes and I will show you how to put them on. Oh goodness you've just given me another idea for Afternoon Beautea, we have a section where ladies bring in their beauty niggles and we help them out, a sprt of burlesque pit stop, excellent, thank you Miss Ella.

Lacey, there are quite a few shops in Camden, one of them being 'Dragstrip' that does false eyelashes.. the ones that I bought from there are very long and have tiny diamonte stones on the end of each lash. They also do fluorescent ones too. Ohhhh I forgot, I also bought rather gorgeous ones that had a blue tiny marabou feather on the end of the last lash, so that you look like you have massive sweepers!
Of course, if you want to stick closer to home, Claires Accessories do them but I don't think they're as fancy.
I have never worn a pair of false lashes before in my and have always wanted to... mainly because I wear my hateful glasses and the effect is lost, somewhat! When I get up and perform (she said in proactive tones...) I shall have to buy some contacts!

I tried at christmas to put false lashes on but it just wasn't happening, my real lashes just kept getting in the way!
As for contacts, I simply couldn't live without mine! My glasses are Sundays only!! I am thinking of getting some coloured ones too!

Ruby you are fantastic! I'm waiting so impatiently for Afternoon Beautea. I'm like Little Minxtress, I usually wear glasses. But I'd love to wear false eyelashes when I've got contacts in, but haven't got the hang of it at all.

I can see that at this rate, we'll all be laying on Ruby's floor, desperately trying to glue our lashes on! LOL.
Aren't glasses just sooo annoying Kitty? I hate having to wear mine. I did feel cheered recently tho, when I noticed that one of the Teasemaids wears them... when I wear contacts (or when I did, many years ago) - my eyes got really dry. Hopefully, they've updated them a bit more these days and when I next try them, i won't be squinting like a bat!

I love and hate my glasses. I've got some really pretty glasses, so love how I look in them. But they always seem to need cleaning, steam up in cold weather if you go indoors, are a nuisance when it rains, and detract from my eye colour/makeup.. oh and get caught on false eyelashes!
But contacts hurt after too long, take too long to put in, are a pain to clean, and I've got astigmatism in one eye, so the contacts wont correct my vision 100% so they hurt when reading/looking at a screen.
I envy people with 20/20 vision sooo much!

I know Kitty - I have decided that should I get a vast quantity of money, I'll go and have the eye correction surgery.
Thing is - it makes me very nervous even thinking about it. I couldn't imagine what it'd be like to have a loss of sight, should anything go wrong... out of all my senses, that's the one I would fear losing. (I'm forever watching Extreme Makeover and thinking.. 'what if'....)
Everyone always tells me that my glasses suit me... but, to be honest.. I was at Ceroc dancing once, and this guy came over and asked me to dance and he leaned in close and said 'I always call you 'The Secretary' in my mind, cos of your glasses'... I was quite upset by this (especially since I was a secretary at the time and hated my job! ) LOL... nowadays, I worry that I do indeed look like the eternal secretary, even though I'm an art student for most of the week.....
PERHAPS, I should be a Burlesque secretary instead... and bump and grind in an 'office style' on stage!?!?!?!?!

Kitty - I have just had a quick look at your website... it's wonderful.. I LOVE your hair in that short bob... very very glam. And I notice that you're Wiccan, like ME! How marvelloussss.
I would LOVE to have the courage to have my hair like that... is it difficult to maintain?

The bob has got to be the easiest hairstyle to maintain ever! You just run a brush through it in the mornings and.. well that's it. Though I've taken to wearing it in a side part with the fringe clipped back.

my hair is just past my shoulders and blonde. Last week, I was in a 'restless' mood and took my woes to the hairdresser!!!! She said, 'ohhh - I'll take a bit off and you'll feel all refreshed'. Originally it was between my shoulder blades, so when I came out, I nearly fell over in surprise'.. I'd been so busy reading 'OK' and 'Hello', that I totally didn't watch what she was doing!!!! I just love that short fringe look tho - it's great!

I wore my first ever pair of false eyelashes today! My daughter (budding photographer and Camden goth chick that she is) let me use some of hers and took some photos. It was sooo weird - I haven't done the 'posing' thing since.. well.. a long time.

As you can see.. I also made full use of the fact that my little darling has her fascinator hat, and other lovely things to wear... unfortunately the corset was way too big but it was great fun dressing up!

Aww you look beautiful. Its a shame the corset doesn't fit you properly, but the fascinator is beautiful. I should really get round to taking some pretty pictures of myself...

I've worn false eyelashes on many occasion since I was about 15/16, and for the last amateur dramatics play I was in I wore them every single night for 5 nights! I had to get it right then. I did have an old back up pair, but never had to use them.
Here's a photo of me done up as my last character with my falsies on. That's me eating a chipolata sausage...
And a couple more (please don't ask about the duck)...
So ladies, what do you think? (of my lashes of course!)
