Liquid liner

Hello lovely peoples Smile

Just wondered what brand of liquid liner people like to use/find best?

I've tried all sorts, some with brushes, some that are like felt pens, some fat, some thin...yet have not found the holy grail for creating my flicky look :_(

Any suggestions would be most appreciated Smile

For the ultimate flicky look Lancome rocks! ahem sorry and now for a more professional appraisal. It's durable, it doesn't smear down your face at the first sign of moisture, it lasts for hours and they have a fabulous range of colours, sticking your false eyelashes to it doesn't seem to phase it either and the long fine felt nib give you the perfect "flick"

aaaahh lovely!

I prefer to use M.A.C - Fluidline in blacktrack shade. It's excellent. It's a gel in a pot and it's best to apply it with a angeled brush (a small one) or another brush like a point eyeliner one. It lasts all day/night, smudge proof and goes on sooo silky!

I've never used the Lancome one, but I may have to....

I definately second the MAC Fluidline - its wonderful and lasts absolutely forever. And obviously because its in a pot you can use lots of different brushes for different shapes and styles.

The one I use when I'm being cheap/lazy is just a £1.95 liquid liner from Superdrugs cheapy 2Tru line. I really like the brush on it, and its not half bad for wear and tear.

Thanks guys for the tips...sorry I didn't reply sooner, sometimes it's difficult to get on the computer at work.

I'll try the lancome one as soon as I get paid..unfortunetly have to wait almost 3 weeks *sigh*

Oh well.

Another reason I like the Lancome one is that it fits so neatly into a tiny handbag with all your other makeup just incase you dont make it home that night! Embarassed

Clinique makes a brilliant egyptian eye liner. Comes as black thick khol in a pot with a brush, you can do as thin or thick as you want. Other than that I would recomend khol which comes as power and you dilute it with water, I got some in Turkey, although am sure you can get it on the net.

If I whisper this very very quietly, is too unchic to say that I actually like Boots' Borjois range?
Ruby Rose

Very Happy

Are we playing that game, chinese whispers, count me i too i like it too!!!

Lancome gets my vote, followed by Rimmel (though the pen is pretty inflexible) when I'm borassic. Much prefer a pen to a brush, maybe as my hands just aren't very steady.

I use Mac. Fluidline and normal liquid eyeliner. I also mix my Mac pigments with water and use a fine brush to apply it as a liner! That way I have lots of colour options depending on the makeup I am doing.

On the subject of eyeliner.....I am pretty rubbish at applying it - love the way it looks when it's winged out at the sides, but can never get them the same size / height - any tips for the fumble fingered one please?

Also any tips on good places to get make up lessons? I tried one at Debenhams but the lady had me in so much scary 80's make up it put me right off! Thanks Smile
Circe

Not sure where you're based Ruby, but the best makeups I've ever had have been at the MAC counter in Selfridges at the Trafford Centre. It's £25 redeemable against purchases and the girls/blokes are lovely Very Happy

Fab, thanks Circe - I am in Bristol but there is a MAC counter in House of Fraser so I will give it a go!
PinkGlitterKitty

eye liner that NEVER moves...I use Babe Cakes by Benefit, but instead of mixing it with water, use their She-Laq fixer...I have heavy upper eyelids so any other liner smears very badly very quickly.......it DOES NOT BUDGE...even if you've been very unladylike and bopped around in a sweaty mosh pit! Their angled brush is worth getting too, esp if you have a less than steady hand!

You can book in for a makeup lesson with me if you live in London!

Am living in Bristol, but would def be up for a lesson next time I'm up in London - how many of your British gold pounds would it be please Miss Rose?

I recently discovered the amazing MAC fluid line eyeliner. It dries quickly, comes in a little pot and lasts a long time because you only use a small amount of it. Also it comes in lots of wonderful colours like 'Blitz & Glitz', it's a glittery black eyeliner. But it needs a steady hand and time to get it right so it's not to be rushed with.

One way of keeping hands steady is to actually keep your elbow of the hand drawing the eyeliner as close to your chest and possible - it helps steady the rest of your hand.

I've been using Boots 17 for years but at the end of a day at work its starting to disappear. Gonna treat myself to some Lancome L'Extreme mascara next time I have a bit of spare cash so maybe will get some eyeliner too.  Cool Thanks for starting this thread Smile

I find the Chanel one very good.   Last week I spent the whole night in the pouring rain lambing and when I got home everything had gone, including my natural colour even, but the eyeliner was still in place.   It may not be a glamorous way to try things out, but it sure got put through its paces!   I wouldn't like to say how impressed the lambs were though.

Ooh a word of warning...

I use the Boujoir Clubbing eyeliner in Ultimate Black but thought I'd try the lovely blue one last weekend. DO NOT USE!!!! I put it on nearly as thickly as Miss Winehouse and even after scrubbing at it with expensive make up remover it still stained my eyelids for a couple of days.

Very strange indeed.
Lola

Chanel with a brush not the pen in black for evening, Urban Decay in a multitude of colours and Bourjois clubbing in dark grey by day.  Also tried GOSH range at Superdrug but that seems to be waterproof. Lovely colours though.

M.A.C. fluidline is by far the best and most economical liquid liner I have ever used. It's very dependant on the brush you use but it's so versatile! I'd buy it in every colour if I could lol
