Hair Help

I had my hair trimmed the other day, I didn't go to my usual salon as hubby had a mobile lady round and she did mine as she was here. It was a very quick job and I'm not sure I like the results. I have dyed it darker brown but I want to make it more glamorous. Obviously for my day job, it will be ok as I don't want to be spending ages in the morning getting ready but I would like to give it a bit more oomph for a photo shoot or night out.

This is what it looks like after straightening. I have a bit of a side-sweeping fringe, layers & a bit of feathering around the front.

I do have some heated rollers but they are jumbo ones, and there are only 4 small ones in the set so it would take ages to do my whole head with those.

Shall I get some new ones? And can anyone recommend which to get?

I'm absolutely no help at all seeing as I'm hopeless with hair, but I just wanted to say how lovely and shiny your hair looks  Smile

Stick it all straight up in the air! You'll definitely get comments. Very Happy

it depends how layered around the face you want it?

i like my layers to start by my chin, but once they've grown longer you can use your straightening irons to make volume and curve the layers

straighten the ends

then use a comb to hold the roots up and bring the tongs round at an angle to where you want the hair to fall

does that make sense haha

Your hair looks pretty similar to mine (altho mine is prob thicker, just coz its a mad beast and usually is). I found more of a fringe and more/shorter layers/feathering to the front helped to change the look of my hair. It just helps to frame that face.

On the curling side I watched someone on tv recently show how to curl your hair with a straihgtening iron. I knew I wouldn't be able to explain it well so foudn this video on youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvdFmDcCGDM (I haven't got sound ont his pc, but if she doesn't exaplin it well there are other videos). Hopefully this'll help you create a new look without having to go out and but other things. I'm pretty lucky that I have natural loose curls, so just have to tame the frizz and I'm done (unless I want to straighten then I rope in Rob or time getting my hair cut well and get it done at the hairdressers)

Its not very well styled in that pic, you can't really see the layers or feathers. My fringe comes to about the end of my nose. The first layer at the front comes to my chin.

Considering up until about 3 months ago it was like this

So now it does have "some" style and frames my face better, but I just would like it be more glam. I've started doing a bit of modelling (!) and my main critique is that I have boring hair.  Shocked

I've ordered some heated rollers & a book about vintage hair, so I'll have a go with those when they arrive  Cool

I already tried using my straighteners to curl my hair, and my friend came round and did it with her GHDs last year because mine wouldn't work. That was before I had the layers and the curls were beautiful but they didn't suit me, and they dropped out so quickly Sad
