Gorgeous Skin???

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone has any products they use which really help their skin? I have M.E and as a result i am always run down and the first place it shows is my skin. I have combination skin but its always dull and prone to break outs and i have broken cappileries on my cheeks and around my nose. I'm thinking of saving up to visit a dermatologist but if theres something i could do i'd rather that option!

Thanks!! x

RUBY!

In seriousness though hun, I swear now by using all natural products since being introduced to them by Ruby, I have not looked back since!

My skin is very much the same and I get an oily t zone, I do still get some manic breakouts but not as bad as I used to and my skin looks a lot smoother. I love lavender cleanser and toner and macademia and avecado to moisturise. Mac in the morning and both in the evening in oil form. Rose water is also really nice on the skin and I would recommend a tea tree oil toner every few days too to help with any breakouts. If I have been performing and wearing heavy make up I use a Vitamin E and orange cream before bed which does wonders for my poor make up clogged skin!  I notice such a difference if I use an expensive 'designer' product now as my skin will feel clogged almost straight away. Ironically enough a lot of natural products tend to last longer than the £50 tiny pot of so called fish eggs, pearls and dog poo.

Do not get a chemical peel whatever you do! I know two people I work with that had it done and their skin does not look any different! They both ended up complaining and getting money back on their treatment!

Come to the next workshop and chat to Ruby and let her look at your skin as she will know more than me. xxx

In addition to Cecilia's wonderful advice, I must add 3 things:

1. Wear a high factor sunscreen every day. (EVERY day).

2. If you smoke or drink alcohol, stop.

3. Have you put that sunscreen on yet?! - Go! do it now!!

Drink lots of water that really does make a deference.  I have tried lots of different products as my skin went weird after I started my medication.  I have fallen in love with Living Nature there products have lots of manuka honey in them and they make your skin feel great.  I also have a lovely cleaning milk from Barefoot botanicals rosa fina and its great for getting the make up off after you perform.
I do use a lush face wash and some of there honey face packs.
I think everyone is right the more natural you go the better. I agree with Anna about sun-block I normal get a moisturizer with some in.  But not drinking is hard I have done it and have had great skin but I miss the silly nights out and daft conversations you have with people.

Chemical peel sounds nasty, why would you put loads of chemicals on your skin. It can't be good.

Yes drinking a lot is definitely the way forward. But my advice would be not to overload your skin with products. Give it a breaks otherwise you disturb it's natural balance too much.

Anna everytime I see you write this I think I must do this as your skin is so beautiful, do you use a facecream with sunscreen in or a normal suncreen? I am always worried that it will clog my skin as some have quite a lot of perfume in, also do you use it as regular moisturiser or add it on top?

Not drinking is a huge cure for cellulite! I found a few years when I stopped for a year all of it went, then I went back to my usual Friday and Saturday night party drinking and it came back. Now I have'nt drank for about 6 months and ive noticed its a lot better again. Still the odd dimple on a bad day but I notice how diet really effects it.

Thank you!  I do use seperate products, yes. My sun protection is a physical, rather than a chemical sunscreen, so it works by reflecting the sun's rays away from my skin rather than using chemicals to absorb them.

I'm an ex Beauty Therapist and I'm very precious about my skin!

Aaah, I wasn't sure what you meant so I asked Adam and he thought you might mean those blocks cricket players wear! I was thinking, I have not seen you with big white stripes on your face, yet.

I might look at getting a moisturiser with SPF in. I used to cain sunbeds and I have not touched them now for 2yrs after my friend at work constantly told me off for it. She just to literally lie in the sun for hours and use sunbeds, the poor girl has (now I don't know the technical term), but quite pigmented (??!!) skin, as in she has light blotches hates them.

It's the same basic ingredient (Titanium Dioxide) but this is what I use: http://www.dermalogica.com/uk/pro...e/ultra-sensitive-faceblock-spf25 xx
Scarlett Daggers

I keep meaning to try that stuff but am put off by the fact that its tinted. How tinted is "tinted"??
Anna Fur Laxis

It's a bit tinted, but it's very thin, not like a tinted moisturiser.  It's the only downside with the physical blocks - they have to be slightly tinted or they would look like the cricket block!

If you absolutely don't want tinted, I use this one sometimes too and it's very nice, (but it does use a chemical sunscreen): http://www.dermalogica.com/uk/pro...efense/extra-rich-faceblock-spf30
Scarlett Daggers

I might give the tinted one a try then, the extra rich one would be too thick I think.

I like the sound of the solar defense booster they do, that you mix with your moisturiser but I guess that's a chemical screen one.
Adelina Le Shay

Well thank you, Cecilia, Diva, Anna and Scarlett...all great tips and i've been looking for a sunscreen that i can use daily with my moisturiser. I'm using a lush one at the moment and it seems to be helping...although thanks to a terrible cold i have generally gone a not so nice shade of grey! So, i guess it's time to say bye bye to the booze! xx

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

I am rubbish! Although I do stop drinking for Lent each year and I drink much less than I used to so I'll see what impact it makes whilst I'm off the demon, beautiful, erm.. evil booze!

Embarassed  You too! Imagine if we go to Paris and end up in Mexico? Shocked
Cecilia Rouge

Thanks Anna for that, I might look into it. My mum has such nice skin and would you believe she only ever uses soap and water?

I think we have all learnt here that nice, simple, chemical free products are the way forward.  Very Happy

Dewsbury, you wouldn't be the same without a Carling in your mit x
CrimbleFairy

Do the products you use make a difference? i.e is it better to use Dermologica than Superdrug's own brand?

Also does anyone have any tips for under eye wrinkles!? Mine seem to be terrible and really noticable at the moment!

Yeah my mum does the same and her skin is great, she doesn't look her age at all but then neither do I or my nan, must be in the genes.

I still think if you use a lot of products your skin gets used to it and the minute you stop it will go horrible wrong.
Adelina Le Shay

ive been using Lush foundationr ecently (got some free samples Wink ) and that seems to have really helped calm my skin down and even it out and the prices arent bad...im going to look into that oil though. My skin has never been as bad as it is now Sad poor skin just looks knackered!!
Belle la femme

I know it sounds strange but for exfoliation half ground oats its all natural so it dosnt clog up your skin and is cost affective. It worked for me my skin is terrible and breaks out constantly.
