Foundation Troubles

I need a fairly full coverage foundation for photoshoots as my skin tone is dreadfully uneven! I use L'oreal Infallible at the moment which is just under medium coverage as my everyday makeup. I did use the mousse foundation from Maybelline for a while and it make my skin look flawless - however it makes me break out *chronically*.

Has anyone tried the Mac Full Coverage stuff? Any recommendations? I need something non comedogenic (it doesn't clog pores) ideally.

I know exactly how you feel with the breakout, its a viscous circle with foundation!
I use Maybellines oil free foundation. The coverage is about medium. Almay also do a range of 'skin stays clean' foundations.
The best thing I found to get rid of the little buggers is Almays concealer designed to dry out spots. Its rubbish as a foundation because its too organgey nd cakey but pop it on overnight and in a couple of days they dry out!
Benefit do a good one called play stick or something thats creamy and covers most stuff inc dark circles but not sure how good it is for your skin.
I think Dior do a spray on one thats supposed to be really good. I suggest going to a department store and letting the sales assistants loose with the testers!!
Ruby Rose

Expect to be taken in hand you two!

I will give you a full consultation and recommend what you should be doing, it sounds like you are treating the symptoms not the cause, we shall discuss this at length over tea and cake!

Hehe me and my friend Joey (yes, a he) love playing with makeup, but we are both INCREDIBLY pale! I'm about NC15 by Mac standards.

Good lord Ruby if you can help me with my skin I will be so incredibly grateful. I have Benign Joint Hypermobility Syndrome.......I know lots of big words that don't really mean a lot......The long and short of it is that my body is CRAP at making collagen. Resulting in pale, sensitive skin that is incredibly dry and tight but somehow managed to be oily in my t-zone too. I have both extremes! I'm using no7 cleansing system at the moment, and my skin is definately more comfortable.

The problem I have with foundation is that my skin isn't overly spotty, but has a lot of dry patches. I cleanse, tone and moisturise and lightly buff off the dry bits. However within about an hour, my foundation is clinging to the dry bits. Within about two hours the oily patches are shiny!

If I use oil control type foundation it dries me out more, if I use moisturising type foundation it makes me really really oily.

Sorry for the huuuuuge post - I'm getting to my whits end with my darnded skin. Can you help, Dr Ruby?

I don't like to make promises or false claims Miss Sadie, but I am good and I make my own products that have turned out to be rather effective with problem skins. I will give you some at Afternoon Beautea and explain how you can use them.

Healing kisses,

Ruby

I can't wait to be 'taken in hand' sounds wonderfully blissful to be told what to do and how to do it, I'm not joking, usually I'm the organiser amongst friends so this will be great!!

There is this liquid one by clarins that is fantastic. A lot of foundation by Mac or Shishado come out quite dark, I'm quite pale so sometimes it doesn't quite look right, especially in the winter. I remember Dior has got a new foundation that's good, even if it is a bit pricey.
I've always loved No7 Nude and the liquid one by maybelline that is called something like 'Rewind' or something like that.
Y'see, I'm in school right now so I can't actually go and have a look in my make-up bag of wonders. I shall have a PROPER look when I get home. xx
DarklyDelicious Millicent

Well I have not been able to find the right shade of foundation for...YEARS in my 20's i use to use Lancome which was brilliant but now everyhting is way to powdery which i HATE and always "grey" or "orange/pink" I have more olive skin and there dont seem to be many palces here that i can find that do specifically for darker skin unless by mail order...maybe i should wait till come to LONDON again!

Oh but when ever ihave done photoshoots the foundation is PERFECT and it blends in even when i am outside!! i did ask once and the make up artist got her stuff from....Florida!!! Sad So that was pointless.... Laughing

I'm going to try a mineral foundation from Meow because they are meant to be very good and have hundreds of undertones and shades. Its great!

I've never heard of Meow before... my friend swears by Bare Escentuals.. but it's so expensive, when you buy it AND the brush, it's over £50.
Sassparella Soda Pops!

ive been using MACs studio fix fluid (i think thats the correct name) for a year now and its the most wondeful coverage ive ever had...i love it!
