I'm glow in the dark pale (having dyed black hair doesn't help!). The best ones I've found are the Stargazer liquid foundation and Revlon Skinlights Diffusing Tints in Ivory.
Hope this helps x

I get very frustrated by this. As I think I've found a good shade til i see myself in a day to day photo and find I look orange! I'm actually going with a boots one at the moment but struggle more with the fact that my rediculously dry skin always ends up making the foundation look... ooh I don't even know... scaly? or some such classy look! I exfoliate and moisturise but to no evail. I fear my hormones and doolally ovaries are to blame again

have you tried foundation primer?I had to go under extensive treatment for a my skin and it made my skin really flakey I find if i give my skin a wipe with clinque Turnaround Concentrate (they usually have samples at the counter) then wash my face with some water then let apply moisturizer and let it soak in your face wont flake:) also make sure your foundation is really moisturising Jelly pong pong are bringing out a range of make up designed by Nicola from girls aloud for pale skin so fingers crossed the foundation will be pale

I finally went for a Prescriptives blended foundation a couple of months ago after a Teasemaid recommendation. It's fantastic - I had the big realisation (possibly a bit late at 34 years of age ) that my skin is blue-toned rather than yellow-toned, which is why most foundations make me look a bit jaundiced. I was able to choose the coverage I wanted and got exactly the right shade for my skin.
It is hideously expensive - £45 - but you do get a large jar as well as a little travel jar (which is great for carrying in my gig make-up bag). It has been really worth it for me.
I would say though that I've also tried their custom concealer and powder, and whilst they are good, I'm not so bowled over by them. I'm not sure I'd shell out for them again.

hmmmm
See this is the thing. I don't mind shelling out a ton on a foundation if it was perfect, as in coverage, finish and tone. But if I shelled out that much and it wasn't perfect I'd be gutted as we're not exactly flush. I know most places should have a sample size but I've never exactly got on with the 'orange ladies' who are generally snotty.
I will try a primer tho. I asked someone about these years ago (actually another orange lady) and she said if my skin was dry and flaky the primer wasn't what I needed, but exfoliation and moisturiser, and primer was more for oily skins

Meow cosmetics do an enormous range of different colours.
I had a few samples from them and they were fantastic. I got the full coverage version, and tried lots of different shades. They are all grouped depending on your skintone with some nice easy to follow instructions.

As soon as payday rolls round I'll be buying a jar.
I get super flaky skin AND oily skin all at the same time (the joys of BJHS's lack of collagen) and this was actually very comfortable to wear all day. No itchies, and a marked reduction in scaley forehead syndrome and spotty cheeks.
Lily Lolo is rubbish btw - I tried it and it made my skin break out, and after about 2 hours it sank into my pores and went orange. It was horrible!

Go to somewhere with a selection of beauty counters (dress up well, it works I promise) and ask them all to each try to sort you a foundation. All good counters should allow you to take a small mirror out into daylight to see how your skin looks in natural light as opposed to artificial light.
I've often found that counters are lit extremely flatteringly(?) to make you look your best in whatever they slap on your skin!

primers make the surface of the skin smoother so make up goes on better and doesnt settle in pores and dry spots and also gives something for the make up to cling to aloe vera gel can be used as a primer and its super good for your skin too I've always thought the orange ladies are very silly you don't want to buy make up from someone who cant even put theirs on properly in my experiance they always think you want to look orange too grr
