Foam hair rats

I've been watching too many you tube videos on vintage hair. Now I want some foam hair rats! I've been around town hairdressers and most didn't even understand what I was asking, and I can't seem to find any to buy online.

Can anyone on here point me in the right direction? Or even pick some up for me?!

PS for anyone interested this is the video in question!

I think there's a place in Bath where they sell professional hairdressing and beauty items which are normally sold as wholesale products as retail products. I'll find out more for you.

I found an American site

Thanks guys!

I rang the people in Bath, but they aren't open today (as I suspected lol) so I'll try them tomorrow.

The ones on the american site are the netty ones. I have one of those for making buns but you cant chop them up to size. And they feel gross. Lol.

Next time you get your hair cut save the hair and stuff it in an old (washed) stocking.

They make great rats that fit in with your hair tone!

(Next week I'll be making Sindy wardrobes out of shoe boxes ... do tune in!)

Bonjour!

I am looking forward to getting my hands on my angel's hair, I would like to learn how to create all those vintage hair styles.

I have been looking on ebay for a guide to vintage hair styles with illustrations, but I beleive that my girl has one.

If I cut off my hair I wouldn't have enough for a shroo I am afraid.

Lol or rockets out of washing up bottles?

I read all about the real hair in stockings. It seems kinda gross but not so gross I wouldn't do it. Only problem is my hair colour changes too often to save up enough hair!!! At the moment its slightly faded pink.....by the evening it will be my favourite dark red. And then I have a photoshoot in April where it has been requested that I have black hair lol.

My hair will fall out soon I'm sure.

That is a great idea, I'll remember that. Smile

Again I have a photo shoot coming up that I would like to be able to attempt a retro hairstyle, I don't think I will have enough hair to make my own.

For a cheap and temporary alternative Claires Accessories have the doughnuts.  These of course can be cut up to create a rat!

Ooh do they? Boots have the netty type donut and rats. Around £5. Which is a lot for a piece of netty stuff but hey ho. They hold the pins well, but I need a new one
Violet Ecstasy

Cool I'll look there, thanks Smile

Apparently Sally Beauty Supplies do them but I can't find them on the site.

You know in that song from Grease -

Quote:
*I don't drink*
No!
*I swear*
Ooh!
*I don't rat my hair*
Ew!
*I get ill from one cigarette* [coughs]
*Keep your filthy paws off my silky drawers*
*Would you pull that crap with Annette?

I never knew what ratting your hair meant until now!  Shocked

Boots do 4 foam rollers for about £1.75, the plastic bit pops out (as recommended by Midnight Blue on MOB) - they are bright pink though.

Bought some today and I'm gonna give them a go later  Smile
