Dying underwearHi,
I've got a lovely corset girdle type thing but it's in rather unflattering salmon pink colour (well not nice on my skin tone) and was wondering how to dye it, there's a fair amount of elastic in it and the rest is just cotton. Any ideas? Can i use normal dylon?

Cotton GirdlesPeach was the commonest colour for lingerie in the 1940s and 1950s so it seems a shame to dye it. But if it looks more Elastaplast then Glamourpuss to you then you could try dying it.
One thing to remember is that the peach colour will effect the final colour of the dye so I'd go for something that is a deeper tone of it - a deep red, deep pink or something very dark although you probably won't get a true black.
You won't have to worry about any polyester not dying as if the girdle is very old it shouldn't have polyester in it, so the only other thing you have to worry about is any heat damaging any rubber in the girdle. Dylon machine wash now works at 30% so should be fine, but I'd avoid any 'top of the stove' jobbie.
