Hi

I have really dark skin my eyes all the time, no matter how much sleep I have (or haven't!) had. I look like I could be an extra in Trainspotting, except less emaciated.

At the moment I use a MAC liquid concealer, which does help, but there is still a significant difference to the rest of my skin. Can anyone recommend any brands that would be worth trying?

Hello Miss Cherry and welcome to the forum. In answer to your question many people will recommend Touche Eclat from YSL which is super with great light reflecting qualities, sadly I can't use it as it gives me a terrible alleric reaction. I find that many brands can be quite similar although Body shop and Benefit do some nice products that reflect light and I personally think that is one of the key qualities. The next is how you apply it, I prefer to choose a concealor that is no more than two shades lighter than your natural skin tone and apply it with a small brush to the required areas then patting gently with your ring finger to warm the product and work it in to the area then if required seal it with some fine translucent or pale powder.

Generally most make up products are much of a muchness you are paying for packaging and brand, although certain items do stand out head and shoulders above the rest. I find concealors are also pertinent to your skin type to as someone with a very dry skin would suit an oil based product and some one with oily skin a lighter lotion.

I use Clinique's version of Touche Eclat - its called Airbrush Concealer.
It seems to do the trick & its a bit cheaper Smile

I have the same problem, get fed up with people telling me I look tired!!! I use concealer and make up...when i feel the need..I liked Touche Eclat i used it when it first came out, though i did find it made me look quite strange, maybe cos my skin is quite dark..

Did anyone see "superbox me" last night...how horrendous, she had similar problem with her eyes...though after her treatment she did look better...but could think of better ways to spend that huge amount of dollars that was spent!!

I've just read about a product called Erase Paste by Benefit - might be worth going to their counter in Boots on Market St and asking for advice/demo for how good it is?

I'm thinking of doing the same as i have horrendous high colour over my nose which needs serious concealer to get my face a uniform shade of pale!

I really like the No7 instant radiance concealer. Makes me look like I've had 8 hours sleep, even if it only felt like 8 minutes!

It comes in one of those brush ended pens that you click to release more product so it doesn't dry out.

OK, so I went to Boots, as promised. I was put off by Touche Eclat because it is £22 and I'm skint (though I have been assured that you can get it in a two pack for less than one normally costs at the airport!).

I went to the Benefit counter, and they gave me a demo of the Erase Paste, mixing it with Ooh La Lift. It did give good cover, but mostly because they put an incredibly thick layer of it on, so my eyes felt greasy all afternoon, and there was still a difference between the colour round my eyes and the rest of my face - just the opposite to usual! Plus, that was £18 and the Ooh La Lift another £12.

So, I ended up going with the No. 7 version of Touche Eclat, as it is about £10 cheaper. It seems OK, but still not brilliant. I think I am destined to never find a solution to this problem. It's always hard going in to somewhere like Boots, because you can only go to the specific counters, who will of course tell you that their product will be best.

I went to MAC yesterday, and for the first time since i had "young skin" found a foundation that looked good....maybe try MAC..did spend quite a bit in there..but also bought 3 lipsticks and a brush!!...unfortuantely now...having spent out...my cat has now decided to be ill..and needs the vets tomorrow and his insurance doesnt start till 17 sept...arrgghh.... I dont like Touche Eclat,not worth the money, I dont use concealer i use Loreal True match in porceline w1 ,let it set a few mins,then dab it under and finish with MAC mineral compact in light,pefect shadow conceal,Miss Dita uses the Loreal,if its good enough for her its good enough for me,at first I was like "but its so cheap" and soon found its major benefits,

If you want to splurge for the ultimate,in every film stars purse is
Cle de Peau concealer,its pricey but the best!!

I use two different products, depending if I'm going to be using a tinted moisteriser for a 'glowing' look or mineral powder for a matt 'done' look.

With tinted moisteriser I use Touche elcat.
I've tried so many other pretenders to it's throne and always go back to it.
It may be £22 but it's only used for under your eyes, I sometimes use it around the corners of my nostrils if it's a little red and it lasts for months. Well worth it (I always carry a touche eclat in my bag for touch-ups on the go).

With mineral powder foundation I use my mineral powder concealer by lily lolo in the yellow (to hide purple shadows) with a light dusting of their candy cane concealer over it, I look bright eyed and bushy tailed!

I use Loreal Touche Magique in 2 Ivory/Beige and it seems to work fine for me.

Agreed with the Loreal, it's better than YSL Touche Eclat. Kanebo also do a lovely one, but it's more expensive Smile
