Ok, considering how many pairs of shoes I own, I should know about stuff like this, but there ya go...

So, my favourite paior of red shoes are looking a little tatty after a wild night out. It was raining so they have horrid grubby looking tide marks on them where they got wet. What is the best way to get rid of these marks? I've done a quick test on part of them and wiped them with a wet cloth then buffed the with red polish but that didn't work. How do I make them beautiful again?
