I'm hoping that this is the right link - I don't have flash on my work PC.

I watched this video a little while ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2QyEWv4WDo and following the advice on it have had a quick go at doing victory rolls.  My first few practice attempts only produced frustration.  However, I think this was because my hair had recently been washed and had no spray/mousse on it, so was to slippery.

I tried again the next day before washing, and it seemed to work.

I am hoping to do these for a friends wedding at the end of the month.  Although I now do think I know what I'm doing, if anyone has any advice that they can add to what is on the video (NB: I have only watched the first half of that, so no idea what the bit about creating a fringe is like!), I'd really appreciate it.  I am chief bridesmaid, so need good hair as it will get photographed a lot!

Thanks. x

Ruby Rose will have the best advice and she is a very good teacher as well!

The best tip is actually to do Voctory rolls in 'dirty' hair (as in the day or two after you ahve washed it)
It will still need some products, but they stay in ALL DAY that way.

I never used to be able to do anything with my hair, but with practice I can now do these very well and with the above advice from Ruby, they stay in all day, even with me changing hats at least 4 times!

I spent 2 hours trying to learn to do mine yesterday. I was using the book "Vintage Hairstyling: Retro Styles with Modern Techniques" by Lauren Rennells.

My hair wasn't clean & I tried with mousse & hairspray but it was still to soft, and then I read that you could use pomade - so I got hubby's DAX! :p

I tried using heated rollers, tongs, the pink foam rollers I got from Boots & in the end just used my hands. I don't know how I did it. The tongs came in useful for doing the fringe/bangs roll though Smile

Even though its not perfect - its still a bit messy, one side is higher than the other but; I really like it  Very Happy

The top:

back

My clip-in Bettie fringe arrived today & I'm not that impressed. I have to learn to use it without it being obvious, the rolls might be better.  Confused

Hi girls...does anyone know where I can get these from in the UK?  I can only find circular net bun rings but these are wrong for victory rolls, I really would like the kind that looks like a sausage

They will be available shortly in my little shop www.rubyemporium.com I have been looking for these for some time and have now happened upon them, they should be in stock in about two weeks time.

I didn't actually manage to get the victory rolls to go how I wanted them, so ended up doing this instead, which I'm quite pleased with

This shows the back and sides a little bit, too, thanks to cunningly sitting in front of a mirror!

Sorry - I have no idea how to resize the images on here, so if any mods/admins want to, please feel free!

The bun rings a lady mentioned earlier are just fine for hair ratts when starting out,i still use them infact, just cut it in half then cut it down to what size you need ,and use it like a sausage one, then pull your hair slightly out and over the ends . There are some ladies that prefer filed rolls, with a ratt, and some that prefer the see through look,so decide what looks best for you and practise practise practise. xoxo

I'm still trying to source a supplier of the fabric, it's as rare as hens teeth.
