Do you think lasses with rosy cheeks cav ever wear red lipstick, or should it be a case of never the twain shall meet?

Don't want to look like a tomatoe but do love the way red lippy looks and I feel sure that wearing would make you feel supremely glamourous!

Any thoughts?

Hi

i think you have to be careful you dont end up looking like a doll....maybe depends on the type of "red". Or try toning down the rosy cheeks a bit first.

I have to watch how I wear red now as I have worked outside for 5 years I can be quite red in theface from wind/cold/sun etc. So dont wear much blusher any more!!! Laughing

I am sure Ruby Rose will have some good advice too!

xx

And here I am, tee hee.

If you have very red cheeks I would recommend using a green corrector, like concealer only green! used under your foundation it will correct the redness, you can then wear you red lippy as bright as you like!

Fantastic, thanks - green concealer sounds like just the job for my pesky little cheeks! Will definitely give it a try, I know what you mean about weathered cheeks Millicent, mine are getting rather too farmeresque! xx

I found having my colours "done" invaluable in differentiating between blue tones and yellow tones and therefore what shade of red lippy would work with my skin. If you hold up, say, a royal blue colour to your (unmadeup and hair pulled back from) face and then a bright yellow you should be pretty clear on which you have . One will make you look glorious, the other half dead Wink

My only beef with red lippy is that my teeth tend to look yellow. So veneers here I come (will have to sell a kidney first, mind you LOL)

BeneFit do some good colour correctors, their Lemonaid is great for covering round the nose/eyelid redness.

Yeah, especially with brands like Clinique! MAC do the best red lippy, GOSH do the best stay on colour. Thats only my opinion though.

I agree that MAC do the best red lippy. Ruby Woo is super matt, and if you layer and blot, layer and blot it should stay on forever.

I personally use Russian Red, it is a little darker than Ruby Woo, and not as matt, I don't think, although I may be wrong on the matt front.

Layer and blot is the key.[/quote]

Boots do a stick one, No 17 I think. It's like lipstick. Great if you go very red like me. I'm a red lipstick lover also. I spend my life in pursuit of more red. Hiya I'm new by the way.

My trick for keeping the lippy on is a layer of stay on lipstick (the kind that never comes off but are a bit on the dry side, i have a Rimmel one and a Revlon one, theyre both as permenant!)  I then put a coat of normal red lippy on top rather than the gloss that they normally come with, you look like youre just wearing normal lipstick but it anchors to your lips with the stay on stuff, it'll still come off a wee bit on your glass and when you kiss people but you'll only have to re-apply the top coat once or twice all night, even if youre eating (unless its really greasy food) as and it doesnt dry your lips out.

If youre on a tighter budget Rimmel do some nice bright shades of red.

Like Circe said with the skin tones thing, some style consultants did this thing to me where they put my hand on a gold piece of card and one a silver piece. On the silver my hand looked all veiny and blotchy, on the gold it looked even and smooth. That'll tell you whether you should go for warm colours or cold colours. The gold being warm. I think the majority of people are 'warm' people.

All reds are different so try LOTS!
