Me and the lad are going to our nearby burlesque night for the first time next week, just as audience but its still encouraged that you get into the spirit of things and glam up.
I've no problem, but he hasn't a clue what to wear! Help!
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
We did think about getting him a cravat maybe...

A nice suit with a cravat would look nice. Even just a normal suit with a well selected tie and a nice shirt would be good. A fedora or a trilby never hurts but that depends on which direction you decide to go with the outfit. _________________ Sic gorgiamus allos subjectatos nunc.

Welcome Blacksilk to our humble corner of the world. I'm always a sucker for a chap in a chalk stripe spivvy suit who wants to sell me gum and nylons!

Hi Blacksilk, and welcome. Just had a nosey peek at your website, wow!
I am sure you will both have a really great time, but don't dress, as you do for work, as in your web page, phew! |

Thanks HG, I only wear plain ties with black shirts, they stand out a lot more that way and make the impact that the black doesn't. _________________

I'd be very tempted to shove him in a white shirt black tie and black braces coz I find that look (complete with rolled up sleeves, of course) so sexy. But I can't as that's roughly what *I'm* wearing! Going for the tomboy/androgeny type look.
He does have a fedora already (even if I do maintain that my trilby is cooler ) so that could work. And he's got to buy a new suit jacket anyway so might as well wear it in then.

Thanks! Unfortunately he's all outta gum...

Haha, thanks, hope you liked it
I'm sure we'll have fun, yeah. A couple of friends of ours have been before, though they can't make it to go with us so we'll be all on our lonesomes! Still, sure it will rock.
And don't worry, I don't intend to dress quite like that
@Pieman: The outfit looks fab on you but I don't think its really his style, cheers for the pics though _________________ www.blacksilk.wordpress.com |

I don't know what's the matter with him, I got a dvd to learn a bit of burlesque and he came in while I was watching it/having a go.
His response:
"When I said I wanted a dance I meant a lapdance not fannying about like that!"
GRRR! |

I know you do, mama. I wish I could slap him around and make him interested, but I can't. I realized a long time ago that people are either gonna love burlesque, or they're not gonna give two shits about it. Nothing you can do or say will change that. Now and then you'll find someone who was dragged kicking and screaming to a show and they instantly and completely convert to burlesque fans, but that's rare.
I hope he comes around for your sake. _________________ Sic gorgiamus allos subjectatos nunc.

Thanks I'm not sure if he has seen enough of it to make a judgement. He is really annoying saying he doesn't like things when he's never given them a chance.
I'll keep trying.
