Hello Ladies,
I have terrible nails and I am seriously considering going the false route, what do you think have any of you had good/bad experiences with them? i just really would like to be able to paint my nails and have glamourous looking hands.
Thank you,
xx

Any reputabe nail technician should always advise that you try your best with your own.
Some of the simpler methods are never letting your hand come into contact with household cleaning products, even washing up liquid, always use rubber gloves even when cleaning the house. Moisturise the hand and nail at least twice a day and after washing your hands. Sally Hanson also does a good range of products for nail problems.
If non of that works for you and you want the false route try gel veneers first, this will just be a light overlay of acrylic gel that will strengthen and protect your own nail while it's growing. Some false nails can be incredibly harsh and damage the nail plate.
Don't be afraid to ask your manicurist lots of questions their your hands and you are paying for a service so don't be coerced into anything you are not sure about.

Hi,
I have been having fake nails for about 6 years now. (years of biting them as a child have made it very hard to grow them) I love them, they grow under them, I dont have tips anymore just a layer of the filler to cover them, keep them in shape and protect them.
I have heard of some awful storys about fake nails, but I have not run into any problems (Apart from getting my nail traped in a car door, I know I have no idea how i did it. Hurt like hell, but the nail stayed on!) I think its where you go, once you find a good one hang on to them! I have use the same girl for 6years and she is a god send, I dont know what I would do with out my nails. They help me to feel polished and femain (sorry spelling is my weak point!)
But yes I do agree with the coment about your own nails, look after them and they will look out of this world. If you find it hard to look after them or you want to help protect them then you dont have to go to having tips but just a coat of acrilic.
Find a good beatisan and show them what you have and they will point you in the way.

I absolutely destroyed my nails just before Christmas by trying to file off some glitter nail varnish (I know it was stupid). I've been using Sally Hansen Hard As Nails ever since and they've actually recovered quite well. You just need to put another coat on every day or so. |

Completely agree with Ruby. If you are not too sure of the best way to look after your nails and you are short on cash try the beauty colleges that way you can go regularly at a fraction of the price.
If you do decide to go down the false route pay the extra and get a decent set from a reputable place. Before I knew better I went to a place that use the electric tools on my bare nails and after a couple of months they were virtually down to the nail bed they had filed away that much of the surface.
